Trondheim is emerging as one of the most interesting culinary destinations in Northern Europe. When visiting Trondheim the summer of 2024, make sure your timing is right. As Trøndelag Food Festival and Trondheim Brewery Festival begin on August 1st the city erupts into culinary activities. Foodies, baristas, families and beer brewing enthusiasts merge downtown to celebrate the food culture of Trøndelag. Throughout the event 250 000 people visit the festival, sampling the vast array of flavours of the more than 200 local food producers present at the food festival. The food stands and stages are visually stunning, with decorations presenting old as well as modern Norwegian traditions and design. You may peruse the stands, which are organized by region, allowing you to taste mussels from the peninsula of Fosen and reindeer from the high plains of Røros. There is even an own Childrens Food Festival area, where children can make, taste, and experience many different types of local food, including making their own burgers, poke bowls, yogurt etc. All kids activites are free!
During the three days there are also special foodie events, such as a special Chef’s Table dinner, art-and food lunches and others – these are ticketed and will sell out a long time in advance – so keep an eye out on socials.
