Sigurd has always lived in Inderøy and loves being near the water. He works at Trønder-Avisa, where he advises clients and helps them reach their goals. He tells Localfolk that he likes his job and his team.
Photography is one of Sigurd’s hobbies, along with flying his drone. He uses the Nikon Z6 and the DJI Mavic Air 2, and edits his photos with Adobe Lightroom, often with his own presets. He shoots with different lenses, from 14mm to 200mm, but his favorite is the 35mm Sigma Art F1.4.
His friend Christian Trustrup inspired him to start photography. “He taught me a lot about editing methods and ideas that made me want to do photography even more.” Sigurd admires Christian’s style and enjoys the trips that photography takes him on. He dreams of visiting the Faroe Islands and other exotic places in the future.
He prefers to be behind the camera rather than in front of it, but he challenges himself to step out of his comfort zone. “As with everything else, practice makes you better.” As an ambassador for Tuftewear, Sigurd practices posing for the camera regularly. It motivates him to get out there, he says.
Trondheim is a city that Sigurd loves, because of its size, its charming neighborhoods, and its friendly people. He likes to photograph the colorful and geometric shapes of the wharfs and suggests a trip to Munkholmen on a sunny summer day. His favorite season for photography is autumn, with its beautiful colors and atmospheric weather.
For those who want to start photography, Sigurd recommends beginning with basic equipment and upgrading gradually. “When your gear is stopping you from progress, it’s a perfect time to upgrade.” Buying used gear is often a good option, since it’s usually well maintained and reasonably priced. He also says that YouTube is a great source of learning techniques.
One of Sigurd’s most memorable photos is a drone photo from Reine in Lofoten. He remembers driving for hours in stormy weather when the sky suddenly cleared and a huge rainbow appeared. He felt so anxious to get the photo before the stormy weather came back. “Probably not my best photo, but everything around it made it special for me.”
