Localfolk is a curated city guide and collectible coffee table book celebrating people, places, and craftsmanship.
Localfolk is a curated city guide and coffee table book about the people, places, and craftsmanship shaping Norway’s most inspiring cities.
Each edition is dedicated to one city – allowing us to slow down and truly explore what makes that place special. From pioneering chefs to heritage hotels, from modern makers to local brands rooted in craftsmanship – we spotlight the finest things a city has to offer, and the people behind them.
Printed in English, Localfolk is created for both visitors and locals who appreciate quality, design, and authenticity. Our readers are curious travelers, thoughtful consumers, and creative souls looking to experience a place through its most inspiring voices and venues.
With only two annual editions and a timeless format, Localfolk is a publication you’ll want to keep – on the coffee table, in the guest room, or tucked into your suitcase for your next Nordic adventure.
Unlike fast digital guides, Localfolk is made to be savoured, shared, and remembered — designed to be kept, not tossed.
Localfolk a collectable coffee table publication released only once every two years per city. Your business will stay relevant and visible long after traditional advertising fades.
Every profile is hand-selected to create a cohesive, high-quality collection. You’ll be featured alongside some of the most inspiring names in your city
The magazine is placed in premium locations such as top hotels, cultural spaces, and events — reaching the right audience in the right settings. Hand-distribution at events ensures direct contact with visitors.
Your feature is crafted with care — using your visuals and your story — in an editorial-style layout that reflects your brand’s personality and values.
Alongside your feature in the print edition, your business will receive a permanent profile on this platform, extending your reach to travellers planning their visit and those discovering your story online.
We believe that the true character of a city lives in its people — in the hands of its makers, the passion of its chefs, the vision of its designers and the care of its hosts.
At Localfolk, we want to honour those stories. The quiet dedication behind handmade ceramics, the generations of knowledge in a family-run bakery, the thoughtful curation of a boutique hotel. These are the impressions that stay with us long after we leave a place.
Our mission is to bring those stories to light — and to help travellers and locals alike discover the most inspiring, authentic expressions of a city.
Great stories deserve better than throwaway ads — they deserve to be kept, shared, and remembered.
OUR VALUES:
WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Mette Skåra
We live in a world of swipes, scrolls and throwaway content. Localfolk exists to create a pause. It’s meant to be picked up, held, browsed slowly—with a coffee or in a hotel lounge. Print gives stories weight. It gives small businesses permanence.
Localfolk isn’t mass-produced. It’s curated. It’s more like a coffee table book than a magazine. And that’s the point: it’s not for everyone. It’s for those who value craftsmanship, design, and authenticity.
The businesses we feature—artisans, boutique hotels, bakers, ceramicists—put so much heart into their work. We believe they deserve something lasting. Something physical. Something that guests remember and take home.
Reading Localfolk on paper—on pages that carry ink, texture and time—isn’t the same as clicking a link. That difference is part of the experience.
This magazine is about elevating the quiet voices of Norway’s creative culture—in a format that invites people to slow down and stay awhile.
Warmly,
Mette
Localfolk was founded by Norwegian photographer Mette Skåra, whose work in luxury travel and lifestyle has taken her to some of the world’s most remarkable hotels, restaurants, and creative spaces.
Along the way, she met chefs, hoteliers, makers, and designers — all deeply dedicated to their craft and proud of where they come from. Their stories stayed with her.
Wanting to bring that same sense of discovery and authenticity home, Mette created Localfolk: a curated, lasting guide that shines a light on the independent businesses shaping a city.
